About Us

We decided to call our business GEMS Prep School of Early Nurturing because let’s face it, children are little GEMS.  They are precious, beautiful, shiny, unique and should be treated with care and admiration at all times. We also believe in a holistic approach to Early Childhood Education where the focus is on developing each child’s physical, social, personal, emotional and spiritual potential through positive and nurturing relationships with our families, children and the environment.

We are a local, family business operated by Monique and Kent Vollprecht.  We have two precious GEMS ourselves, Charlie is 13 years of age and Olive is 11.

Monique is an Early Childhood and Primary teacher, having won an Excellence in Teaching Award whilst teaching at a prestigious Perth school. Kent is a Secondary teacher with nearly 20 years of teaching experience.

GEMS has been operating in the South West region since 2006, first as a Pre-Kindy program and then into Long Day Care in 2010.

At Gems Prep School of Early Nurturing, we aim to provide a holistic approach to Early Childhood Education where the focus is on developing children’s physical, personal, social, emotional and spiritual wellbeing.  Your child can expect to be involved in a variety of learning experiences where the emphasis is on learning through play and with natural resources.

We believe in Sustainability from the Start, which includes incorporating sustainable practices in our teaching and learning program, sustainable resources, our cooking and ensuring that it is always at the forefront of our thinking.  By involving children from a young age in Sustainability, it will ensure they build vital connections and love for their natural world.

There will be equal importance placed on both indoor and outdoor learning environments, with excursions, for example, organised to local bushland, parks or beaches to help children create connections with their natural world and community.

We understand the different care needs of families which is why we offer flexible care, casual days, half days and full days.  We also offer 10 hour days so you families can get the most effective hours out of their ChildCare Subsidy.
